He returned surprisingly in UFC 62 to replace the ill Thiago Alves. He won UFC 65 against GleisonTibau but still decided to leave UFC and joined Gracie Fighting Championship.

He was scheduled to fight Thomas Denny but the fight didn’t take place for low ticket sell.

Diaz then signed a two-year deal with Pride Fighting Championship.  His first match was against lightweight champion TakanoriGomi which he won.

But soon after his win he was tested positive for taking Marijuana and was suspended for 6 months, cutting 20% of his win against Gomi as fine and resulting that match as a “No contest”.

He made his debut in EliteXC in September 2007. He and his brother were involved in a back and forth fight against KjNoons. He left the company in late 2008 when it ceased operation.

He was then part of martial arts promotions “Dreams” and “Strikeforce” before vacating his Strikeforce World Championship for making his second return in UFC in 2011. His match was againstB.J Penn which he won.

He was Marijuana positive again and returned to fight in 2013 after a one-year suspension.

On September 14, 2015 Diaz was suspended for 5 years and fined $165,000 following his failed drug test of marijuana metabolites at UFC 183.

The suspension and fine was later reduced to 18 months and $100,000. The suspension lifted on August 1, 2016. He hasn’t fight since 2015.
